Kabuli chickpeas are the large cream coloured type used for hummus, canned chickpeas, salads and whole retail packs. They are traded by count, the number of seeds per 30 g, and large sizes such as 42/44 (about 12 mm) sell at a clear premium over 58/60 and 75/80. Mexico supplies the largest calibres, Türkiye and Russia trade medium and small sizes, and Canada, Argentina and Australia complete the export market. Buyers are pulse importers, canneries, hummus producers, packers and wholesalers in the Gulf, the Levant, Europe and Pakistan. Prices follow crop size in Mexico and India, Indian import duties, availability of large sizes and freight. We offer 42/44 and other counts on a CFR Jebel Ali basis, as spot or monthly lots.
