Parent rolls, also called jumbo or mother rolls, are the base paper that converters cut and rewind into toilet rolls, kitchen towels, napkins and facial tissues. China and Türkiye are major exporters, alongside Indonesia, and the Gulf, Iraq, East Africa and Central Asia rely on imports because converting capacity there is larger than local paper making. The common grade is 100% virgin wood pulp, 13 to 16 gsm, creped, 1 or 2 ply, wound on 3 or 6 inch cores. Buyers are converting plants of all sizes. Price per ton follows hardwood and softwood pulp, energy costs and paper machine utilisation in China, and moves faster than finished tissue prices. We offer parent rolls on an FOB China basis, with roll width cut to the buyer's converting line.
